Happy New Year 2014!
I thought it was about time I started a blog for keeping record of all the crafty and creative activities we get up to here at 'Doodles' HQ. As well as running messy, imaginative and fun filled arty workshops for kids I also have two bouncy, lively tots who keep me very busy and creative on a daily basis! This blog will be a place where I can upload new activities, ideas and games from the workshops and parties that I run and also tell you about the craft we get up to as a family at home.
About me...After having two children I was looking for a way to use my creative skills in a positive way that meant I could work around my kids and meet new parents with the same interests. 'Doodles’ started when I found a gap in the market for a messy and creative play session for my two little ones. I wanted to create a friendly, fun and open space where kids feel free to explore art and plenty of squidgy paints and materials! Not only that but a group for parents and carers where they did not worry about sticky fingers and enjoyed painting and making with their children. Plus, I just love glitter (is that not reason enough?)
Doodles Workshops...Creative free play is something we all want our kids to enjoy, and a ‘Doodles’ session provides many open-ended and imaginative play opportunities. It’s not just about a bit of sticking and gluing (although we do a lot of that!), it’s about encouraging kids to explore, learn new skills and not be intimidated by art and crafts.
If your little one loves mess, gloop and sparkles then they will be in their element at our workshops. We explore painting, sculpture, craft and imaginative play using lots of interesting and open ended materials for children. Each session is focused on the process rather than a perfect end result and all activities are based on the floor so crawlers and bum shufflers can also get stuck in! No arty, farty nonsense here just pure fun with foam, mud, fluffy paints and much, much more!
Since 2012, word has spread and ‘Doodles’ is expanding! We now offer workshop sessions for a variety of ages, birthday parties, wedding packages and work with other artists and makers to offer educational packages to suit your children’s art and craft needs.
I hope this blog gives you plenty of ideas for you and your little ones to enjoy...
